The association is open to continental federations bringing together national federations of refractory manufacturers or for lack of those, national federations of refractory manufacturers with an aggregated annual turnover of at least US$ 750 million. Membership is also open to private companies manufacturing refractories with a global annual turnover of at least US$ 200 million.


All applicants for membership must submit their written application to the Secretary-General, attaching the following documents:

  • a motivation letter

  • a copy of the extract of the commercial registry or articles of the association

  • a list of its own members (in case of a national or continental federation)

  • a signed agreement to WRA conditions for membership.



  • Drive the refractory industry issues and contribute to policy-shaping.

  • Meet with policymakers & customers through WRA General Assembly and WRA events.

  • Join networking opportunities with fellow CEOs attending WRA Board meetings.

  • Be informed on the regional policy issues notably in the fields of safety, environmental protection, employment, tariff standardization.

  • Get involved in the committees’ work on related policy or technical areas through the World Steel Association.

  • Contribute to the promotion of the image of the refractory industry at world level.



Members of the World Refractories Association include continental associations, national associations and multinational companies.
